Bruce Roberts

Elder of Children’s Ministry

Bruce is responsible for prayer ministry, and children's ministry and serves in leadership in our Cross-Cultural Ministries organization.  Bruce’s areas of passion are exhortation, teaching, praying prophetically and children’s ministry.  Bruce enjoys encouraging people in their Christian walk in any way, but especially encouraging men in their marriages, following Christ in their jobs, trusting God for their finances, and their spiritual and physical health.  Bruce also enjoys cross-cultural ministry trips.

Bruce was born at a small hospital in Dallas called St. Nightingale’s Hospital that is now known as Baylor Medical Center.  He has lived in Texas his whole life, settling in Arlington in 1981 after living in Dallas, Lubbock, and Euless.

Bruce graduated from UTA with a degree in Communications and a minor in English and Greek.  Bruce has completed 95 hours of graduate work at Dallas Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Bruce met his wife Debbie at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Baptist Student Union and still remembers that day and date – August 28, 1974 on a Thursday.  He has been a professional paint contractor since 1981, specializing in residential painting and faux finishing.

Bruce has been at Grace since 1988 and became an elder in 1995.  Before serving as an elder at Grace, Bruce was an elder at Park Springs Bible Church in Arlington for three years.  He has taught every age from 2-year-olds through adults in the church.  Bruce has painted both of the Mexico orphanages founded by Grace Community Church several times and has been on ministry trips to Nepal and Turkey.  He and Debbie serve in a monthly prophetic prayer ministry called the Presbytery.

Bruce enjoys disc golf, faux finishing, helping people with ideas about home remodeling and design, Scripture memory, playing games with family and friends (42 is a favorite), and family time.  Bruce and Debbie still have a weekly time together with their grown children.  Their daughter Sarah is married to Jonathan Scheffrahn and they have three children. Their son Chris is married to Holly and they have one daughter.
