Disaster Relief
Grace Community Church wants to to be actively involved in our community and be prepared to help when a widespread emergency does occur. There are two  groups that serve in this capacity:

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)CERT logo modified
CERT training is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster.   The training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not readily available. You will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of victims after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim.  Some of the topics covered are disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, terrorism and disaster psychology. To graduate, the team must use the skills they have learned in class in a disaster simulation drill. Training dates and class size are limited.

The next class begins August 30th! Check out the CERT website at arlingtontx-cert.org.

The next CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) class will begin on Tuesday, August 30th and occur every Tuesday, 6:00pm-9:00pm, until September 28th. We will conclude the series of training on the following Saturday, October 2nd with a full scale disaster exercise.   In order to graduate, students must attend all sessions. Red Cross ShelterRed Cross logo Team

Grace is partnering with the American Red Cross and the City of Arlington to provide sheltering in our facility for those affected by hurricanes, tornadoes or other disasters that would cause them to be without their homes for a short or extended period of time. We recently were a shelter for Hurricane Ike victims from the city of Beaumont, Texas.  We have a shelter team that works hard to help provide for the needs of our guests, spiritually as well as physically.  A six hour training class is all that is required in order to participate on our team.

If you have an interest in either of these areas you can contact Lea Ann Shilling at LeaAnn@gracearlington.com.
