Larry Gallas

Pastor of Worship and Finance

Larry is responsible for every aspect of worship in the life of our church.  Larry is also a CPA and manages the finances and other administrative areas of the church.  Larry started and leads GraceGrown Music, the songwriting and recording arm of Grace Community Church. GraceGrown has recorded two CDs using songs written by our members and used in our worship ministry.

As worship pastor, the heart of what Larry does is to train, equip, and impart a love for God’s presence into the heart of the next generation of worshippers and worship leaders. Larry is passionate about being a part of leading our church into the presence of God and seeing people connect with Him experientially. He says, “When I look out and see it in the facial expressions, the tears and postures that something real is happening between people and their God, I realize that is what I long to be a part of.” Larry is also committed to doing what our church does financially with integrity, being wise stewards with what God has blessed us with. Larry says, “When the elders approve a budget, we seek to honor that. I approach our finances in such a way that if everyone in the church saw every expense, they would think ‘Yes, that’s what we should be spending God’s money on!’”

Larry was born in Harvey, Illinois, a small suburb of Chicago. He moved to Arlington when he was six, then met Christ his senior year in high school through the youth ministry of Pantego Bible Church in Arlington. Larry met his wife Tina in high school when they were co-workers at the same fast food restaurant.  He jokes, “We reached for the same order of fries, and our lives were never the same!” They worked together for five years and began dating. They were married in 1985. Larry graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a B.B.A. in Accounting in 1986 and earned his Texas CPA license in 1988. He spent two years in public accounting with Ernst and Young, seven years as controller for an international software company, then two years as Vice President of Finance and Operations for a pharmaceutical claims processing company.

Larry first came to Grace Community Church with his family in the spring of 1990 and began serving in our worship ministry. In 1998, through a series of drastic changes in his plans for his life, Larry was called out of his professional life to join the pastoral staff of Grace Community Church. Larry has been involved in music ministry since 1982 in one form or fashion. He began playing in Christian bands in high school, taking the gospel to teenagers through his music. Then, he remained involved in playing and leading in worship ministries at various churches in Arlington.

Larry lives in Arlington with his wife Tina and children, Josh, Jordan, Amy, and David. He also has two adult children. His oldest son Chris is married to Jamie and lives in Midlothian with their children Huck and Heston.  His son Andrew lives in Arlington and plays bass on the worship team.  Larry enjoys family vacations in the mountains, hiking, skiing, playing and recording music with his kids, watching and playing sports of most any kind, and is a die-hard Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks fan.
