Scott is the Youth Pastor. He has a passion for students and seeing them grow in their walks with the Lord. He believes that the Youth Pastor should not just be someone who sees the students in the church setting, but believes that growth comes from being involved in the things that the students care about and participate in. Scott is excited to be able to lead the junior high students, high school students and leaders closer to God while creating discipleship and community amongst the students. The junior high and high school times are extremely vital times in a person’s Spiritual Journey. Scott wants to create an atmosphere where each student will feel welcomed and loved but also challenged to grow closer to Jesus and make his or her faith personal.
Scott was born in Chicago, but his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma before eventually settling in Houston. Scott heard God calling him to Youth Ministry as a senior in high school, leading him to attend Dallas Baptist University (DBU) and pursue Youth Ministry. The summer after his freshman year in college, he got his first experience on a youth staff as an interim youth pastor in Cypress, Texas. From there he worked and volunteered at several churches in Texas while he finished school at DBU.
While at DBU, Scott met his fiancée Emily. He sat behind her in class and in her words she “never knew he existed.” After a Facebook message and some convincing on his part, Emily agreed to go on a date with Scott, and the rest is history! Scott was introduced to Grace Community Church by Emily and started volunteering leading worship for the junior high. He then started leading worship for high school, then a small group, and then started preaching with Caleb Beacham as his mentor.
Scott enjoys spending time with his fiancée, playing different sports, spending time with his dog Astro, and cheering for the Houston-based sports (Texans, Astros, and Rockets).
