The Book of Philemon

Writing from prison, Paul appeals to his friend Philemon on behalf of Onesimus, a runaway slave who became a Christian under Paul’s ministry. This personal letter illustrates the Gospel’s power to transform a "useless" rebel into a "useful" brother.

Paul challenges Philemon—and us—to heal the hurting by being:

  • A Friend: Refreshing the weary with support and hope.

  • A Forgiver: Offering a second chance and wiping the slate clean.

  • A Future-Giver: Restoring someone’s potential and dignity.

We are all "Onesimus." Having been forgiven and restored by Jesus, we must now offer that same friendship, forgiveness, and future to others.
