Moms Connect: Women at the Well
AUTHOR: AUBRIE GALLAS
This past February, Grace hosted Women At The Well’s first meeting. It was a day of uncertainty, as many beginnings can be. Yet, despite the weather’s cold greeting, our time was spent warmly and cheerfully connecting over a simple activity.
The concept of Women At The Well was conceived during a women’s meeting where Libby Liden and I discussed the joys and challenges of motherhood – particularly the disconnect from other women in the same season and our culture that no longer provides the support we need due to community disconnect. After talking about ideas and things we wished for ourselves, we finally looked at each other and said “Why not us”? And so we began brainstorming…
Like the woman at the well in John 4, so many of us go about our day doing the things that need to be done. We do it joyfully. We do it angrily. We do it tiredly… But we are thirsty to be refreshed ourselves.
Our goal for Women At The Well is to fill moms’ cups with scripture-based community, a place for real friendships to grow, and live life alongside each other away from the daily demands of being a mom. Each meeting will consist of simple and engaging activities that provide moms with a creative outlet and engage against the spiritual warfare that results in isolation, depression, and guilt. We hope that this will offer moms the opportunity to be themselves again, become who they want to be, and connect with their individuality – to laugh, create, and connect.
This group is for moms of children aged 0 to 18. We would love to have you join us! If you’re interested, please sign up at the link below so we can prepare enough supplies for each activity. If you can’t make one month’s meeting, don’t be discouraged! Join our Facebook groups (Women of Grace Community Church, Arlington, and MOMS of Grace Community Church, Arlington TX) for updates on the next meeting, or reach out to Libby Liden for email updates.
We can’t wait to see you!
